Xiaomi reveals MIUI 6 roll-out details

MIUI 6Xiaomi has revealed the roadmap of its MIUI 6 update distribution to the users. After the recent launch of MIUI 6, all users of Xiaomi devices wanted to know when their device is going to receive the update.

According to the company, the first one to receive the MIUI 6 will be the Mi 3 WCDMA/CDMA and Mi 4 users. In October, all these users will be upgraded to MIUI 6. Other smartphone users will receive the beta version by end of this year.

Huawei Honor 3C Play official, available soon in China

huawei_honor_3c_playHuawei has launched a new low budget smartphone Honor 3C Play, a downgraded version of the Honor 3C, in the Chinese market.

The smartphone runs on Android 4.2 with Emotion UI and is powered by 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6582 processor. In addition, it packs a 5-inch HD (1280 x 720) IPS display, 1GB RAM, 4/ 16GB of internal memory with an option to expand up to 32GB via microSD card, 8MP rear camera with LED flash, 2MP front camera and 2000mAh battery.

The smartphone is dual SIM and offers 3G/HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS connectivity options.

The smartphone will go on sale in the Chinese market for startingg CNY599 (€72 or $97). It will be released in black, white, blue, yellow and pink colour options.

Swipe launches Sense smartphone with fingerprint reader in India

Swipe SenceSwipe Technologies has launched its new smartphone, Swipe Sense in the Indian market. The smartphone comes with a built-in fingerprint reader as an added security to the smartphone. The company claims that it is the slimmest phablet the in world with the thickness of just 7.8mm, however we doubt that.

Coming to the specifications, it runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) OS and is powered by 1.3 GHz quad-core processor. In addition, it packs a 5.5 inch qHD IPS display, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal memory with an option to expand via microSD card, 8MP rear camera with LED flash, 3.2MP front camera and 2250mAH battery.

In terms of connectivity options, the phone comes with 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS, USB OTG connectivity. The smartphone weighs 158 grams and comes in black colour.

The smartphone is priced at INR 9,999 and will go on sale in the coming days.

Redmi 1S goes for sale on September 2 at INR 5,999 in India

Redmi 1SXiaomi has announced the launch of its much awaited Redmi 1S smartphone in Indian market. The smartphone will be available at a price of INR 5,999, which is INR 1,000 less than the earlier revealed price.

Xiaomi will be following the same weekly sales model, as followed for Mi 3 smartphone in the country. The customers interested in purchasing the smartphone will have to register every week to get one at Flipkart. Registrations for the first sale start today at 6PM and the phone will go on sale exclusively at Flipkart on September 2.

Just to recap the specs, it runs on Android 4.3-based MIUI v5 and is powered by 1.6GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor. In addition, it comes with a 4.7-inch 720p HD display, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage with an option to expand via microSD card and 2000 mAh battery. It also packs 8MP rear camera, and 1.6MP front camera.

In terms of connectivity, it offers 3G, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and USB OTG connectivity. It will be available only in Grey colour option.Xiaomi Redmi 1S

Xiaomi has also informed that accessories of Redmi 1S will also be sold along with the smartphone. The coloured back covers will be available at INR 469, Screen protector at INR 179, Silica gel covers at INR 359 and Flip covers at INR 559.

Volvo announces Volvo On Call app for its 2015 models

volvo_on_call appVolvo, the Swedish carmaker, has announced its new Volvo On Call app and Sensus Connect technology. The new technology will be available in their 2015 models, which will let the car owners control select features of their car with the Volvo On Call smartphone app.

Volvo On Call provides users with 24 hour roadside assistance, SOS emergency service with crash notification and stolen vehicle tracking facility. If the service is used in conjunction with On call smartphone app, it also keeps check on lock status of doors and fuel level of vehicle.

Volvo On Call app features:

  • See vehicle dashboard values, such as fuel level, trip meters, and more.
  • Control your engine block heater, if your car is equipped with a fuel-driven engine block heater.
  • Locate your car on a map or using the car’s horn and direction indicators.
  • Lock and unlock the vehicle.
  • Request roadside assistance from the app.
  • Keep an electronic driving journal that will create trip reports for every trip made with the vehicle.

LG announces G3 Stylus smartphone ahead of IFA 2014

LG-G3-StylusLG has officially announced its G3 Stylus smartphone. The smartphone comes with a stylus pen and sports mid-range specifications.

The LG G3 Stylus will be available in Black, White and Gold colours and go on sale starting with Brazil in September followed by Asian, Middle East, African and CIS countries.  Price and other details will be revealed during the local launch.

Cherry Mobile teases upcoming smartphone on social media

Cherry Mobile, the Philippines-based smartphone vendor, has published a video of its upcoming smartphone on its official Facebook page and calls it as the “One”.

The company has not revealed anything else in the video, which only talks about a faster and stronger smartphone, indicating that this smartphone will have a better processor and stronger chassis.
