Xiaomi Mi 4 likely to launch by year-end in India

Xiaomi Mi 4Xiaomi, Chinese smartphone maker, is likely to launch its flagship Mi 4 smartphone by the year’s end in India. As per company’s head of India operations Manu Kumar Jain, Xiaomi is expected to release Mi 4 during November or December this year.

Manu Jain, while speaking with IANS, also revealed that Redmi Note will be arriving in a month from now.

“Redmi Note, which is the elder brother of Redmi 1S, with a 5.5-inch panel, will hit the market around three-four weeks from now,” said Jain.

Xiaomi is also planning to open Mi Home experience centres in India and first such centre will come up in Bangalore within four to six months. Xiaomi already has such centres in China, where the company display products, accessories and these centres also acts as service centre. There is a small lounge or cafeteria as well available for the customers.

In addition, Xiaomi is planning to expand the service centres in India and new centres will be opened at Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai and Gurgaon. These four service centres will be run directly by the company.

Manu Jain also revealed that Xiaomi is planning to use alternative channels of sales. The company may soon start selling through their official website mi.com as they have been doing in other countries like Singapore and Philippines.

LG unveils G Watch R ahead of IFA 2014

LG G Watch RNo more teasers, LG, the Korean giant, has officially announced its second Android Wear device of the year, – LG G Watch R. According to LG, G Watch R will be the world’s first watch-style wearable device to feature a full circle Plastic OLED (P-OLED) display that utilizes 100 percent of its display.

G Watch R comes with a 1.3-inch display, which LG claims will produce great image clarity even under bright sunlight and superb viewing angles.

Coming to specifications, it is powered 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 processor and packs 512MB of RAM, 4GB of storage, and a 410mAh battery. It is water and dust resistant with IP67 rating. In addition, G Watch R includes Gyroscope, Accelerometer, Compass, Barometer, and a heart-rate sensors.

The device will be released in Black and sports a stainless steel frame and interchangeable leather strap.

“What we’ve noticed in the year of the wearable is that this is a category that can’t be compared to smartphones and tablets,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.

“Wearables are also accessories and consumers will want more than one to choose from. So we wanted to complement the modern design of the original G Watch with the classic look of the G Watch R. Customers can’t go wrong with either device,” Park added.

The LG G Watch R will be available in the market early in the fourth quarter of 2014.

Acer launches Liquid X1, Liquid Jade and Liquid E700 in Philippines

Acer Lquid X1Acer has announced the launch of its three new smartphones Liquid X1, Liquid E700 and Liquid Jade in Philippines. All these smartphones are part of the company’s Liquid series and were originally unveiled in June this year.

Coming to the specifications of each smartphone, the Liquid X1 runs on Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) and is powered by 1.7 GHz octa-core processor from MediaTek. In addition, it packs 5.7-inch IPS HD display, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory with an option to expand up to 32GB via microSD card, 13MP camera with LED flash, 2MP front facing camera and 2700mAh battery.

In terms of connectivity, the Liquid X1 packs 4G LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, and GPS connectivity. The smartphone has been priced at Php19,990.Acer Liquid E700

Similarly, Liquid E700 runs on Android KitKat and is powered by 1.2GHz quad-core MediaTek processor. The Liquid E700 comes with triple-SIM card slots and includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS connectivity options. The smartphone has been priced at Php10,990.

Lastly, Liquid Jade also runs on Android Kitkat OS and is powered by 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6582 processor. The phone packs a 5-inch IPS HD display with 720 x 1280 resolution, 1GB Ram, 8GB internal memory with option to expand up to 32GB via microSD card, 13MP rear camera, 2MP front camera and 2100mAH battery. In addition it comes with 3G, HSDPA, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS connectivity options. The smartphone has been priced at Php14,990.

All three smartphones go on sale in the coming days.

LG announces Gx2 smartphone in South Korea

LG Gx2LG has announced the launch of one more smartphone after the success of its G3 in the South Korean market. Dubbed as Gx2, the smartphone comes with a 5.7-inch screen and 8MP rear camera with laser focus.

Coming to the specifications, the Gx2 runs on Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) and is powered by 1.2 GHz quad-core processor. In addition, it packs 1.5GB of RAM, 8GB of internal memory with an option to expand via microSD card, 1.3MP front camera and 3200mAh battery.

In terms of connectivity options, LG Gx2 comes with 4G LTE-A/ 3G HSPA+, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS connectivity.

The company has not revealed the price of the smartphone, however it would be available in Titanium Black and White colors from Korean operator LG U+ starting today.

Xiaomi launches Redmi 1S for IDR 1.5 million in Indonesia

Xiaomi Redmi 1SChinese smartphone Maker Xiaomi has announced the launch of Redmi 1S in Indonesia. Xiaomi Global VP Hugo Barra and the comapny co-founder Bin Lin presented Xiaomi’s first smartphone to the country. The smartphone has been priced at IDR 1.5 million (US$128).

Redmi 1S will be sold exclusively at online retailer Lazada and will go on sale at 1100 hours on September 4 until stocks last.

The customers interested in purchasing the smartphone will have to register on Lazada Indonesia website. Registrations for the first sale have already started and you can register till 2359 hours on September 3.

Coming to the specifications, the phone runs on Android 4.3-based MIUI v5 and is powered by 1.6GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor. In addition, It comes with a 4.7-inch 720p HD display, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage with an option to expand via microSD card and 2000 mAh battery. It also packs 8MP rear camera, and 1.6MP front camera.

In terms of connectivity options, it offers 3G, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and USB OTG connectivity.

Xiaomi has not revealed the number of units available for sale on September 4, but one thing for sure they are limited in number.

Coming to the specifications of each tablet, DigiFlip Pro XT911 runs on Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) OS (With assured upgrade to Android KitKat 4.4) and is powered by 2GHz Intel Atom Z2580 dual-core processor. In addition, it packs an 8.9-inch 1920x1200p IPS display, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal memory with an option to expand up to 32GB via microSD card, 5MP rear camera, 2MP front camera and 6500 mAh battery. It also comes with 3G and voice-calling support.  The tablet has been priced at INR 15,999.

DigiFlip Pro XT901 lacks the 3G connectivity and voice-calling support, however rest of the specifications are same as XT911 and it has been priced at INR 13,999.

Similarly, DigiFlip Pro XT811 runs on Android v4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) OS (With assured upgrade to Android Kitkat 4.4) and is powered by 2GHz Intel Atom Z2580 dual-core processor. However, XT811 packs an 8-inch 1280x800p IPS display, 1GB RAM, 16GB of internal memory with an option to expand up to 32GB via microSD card 5MP rear camera, 2MP front camera and 4200 mAh battery.  The tablet comes with 3G and Wi-Fi support and has been priced at INR 10,999.

Digi Pro XT801 is a Wi-Fi only version of XT811 and retails at INR 8,999.

Now coming to the DigiFlip Pro ET701, it runs on Android v4.2 (Jelly Bean) OS (Android Kitkat 4.4 update incoming) and is powered by 1.2GHz Intel Atom Z2520 dual-core processor. ET701 also packs a 7-inch 1024x600p IPS display, 1GB RAM, 8GB of internal memory with an option to expand up to 32GB via microSD card.2MP rear camera, 0.3MP front camera and 2800 mAh battery. It also supports Wi-Fi and 3G via USB dongle. The tablet has been priced at INR 5,999.
