RugGear, known for making rugged Android smartphones, has now launched Ultra Tab 7.0 – RG900, an Android tablet in Singapore.
Ultra Tab 7.0 RG900 is designed to even perform in any extreme environment. The tablet has an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance and an sturdy body to protect itself against drop-shock impacts.
Coming to the specifications, it runs on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 MSM8225Q quad-core processor (for Europe and rest of world) or MSM8625Q (for China, Korea and Indonesia). In addition, it packs 7-inch (1,280 x 800 pixels) IPS display, 1GB RAM, 16GB internal memory with an option to expand up to 32GB via microSD card, 8MP rear camera, 2MP front camera.
The tablet also has Bluetooth 2.1, GPS, AGPS and a single 3G SIM card slot.
Ultra Tab 7.0 RG900 comes with a polycarbonate ruggedised body frame with materials that protects the corners of the device. Due to its ruggedised body, the tablet weighs more than a normal device.
It can be ordered from RugGear South East Asia Headquarters in Singapore for S$830 (inclusive of GST). Delivery is will take about two weeks after confirmation of order.

Samsung is all set to launch Galaxy S5 4G+ on August 23 in Singapore. The smartphone is a variant of the Galaxy S5 LTE-A, which was earlier released in Samsung’s home country South Korea. The Galaxy S5 4G+ will released on the same day when Singapore is going to witness the launch of SingTel’s first commercial 300Mbps 4G LTE-Advanced service.
Coming to the specifications of the phone, it runs on Android 4.4.4 (KitKat) OS and powered by Qualcomm’s 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor. In addition, the phone features a 5.1-inch Full HD (1920×1080) Super AMOLED display, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal memory with option to expand up to 128GB via microSD card, 16MP rear camera, 2MP front facing camera and 2800mAh battery.
In terms of connectivity, it comes with 4G LTE-A (up to 300 Mbps) / 3G HSPA+ up to 42 Mbps, Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2X2 MIMO), Bluetooth v4.0 LE and GPS connectivity. As you can see, apart from the improved processor, newer Android version, and LTE-A support, S5 4G+ is same as the 3G variant.
The smartphone will be available in Shimmery White, Charcoal Black, Copper Gold and Electric Blue colours.

HTC Corporation, the Taiwanese manufacturer of smartphones and tablets, officially unveiled its new smartphone J butterfly HTL23 aka HTC Butterfly 2 at a press event in Japan today. Both smartphones are basically the same but J Butterfly will be released on telecom operator KDDI in Japan while Butterfly 2 will be arriving in South Asia.
HTC Butterfly 2 will released in Taiwan via Chunghwa Telecom on September 2 and will also be sold through major retailers in Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand.
Coming to the specifications, the phones run on Android 4.4.4 (KitKat) and powered by 2.5 GHz, quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor. In addition, the smartphones come with 5.0-inch full HD 1080p display and 4G LTE support. They also pack 2GB of RAM, 16/ 32GB of internal storage and microSD card slot for expanding the memory up to 128GB.
In addition, the phones are featured with the latest HTC Sense 6 experience, HTC Duo Camera for advanced imaging (13MP rear camera plus depth sensor).

Sony has started rolling out Android 4.4.2 update for its Xperia M2 model on August 15. Xperia M2 is mid-range Android smartphone. The present update is available to LTE (D2303) users in Singapore and Thailand.
Xperia M2 is being updated to firmware versions 18.3.C.0.37 and includes a new homescreen launcher, new themes, updated Sony Media apps and the new Quick Settings feature. If you are using Xperia M2, you will be get a notification for updating your OS.
Just to recap the specs of Sony Xperia M2, it has a 4.8-inch display with 540×960 (qHD) resolution, 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 CPU. It also packs 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal memory with option to expand it to 32GB via microSD card, 8MP rear camera and a front camera, and a 2300mAh battery.

ZTE on Wednesday launched three new Android smartphones in Singapore. Powered by Android 4.4, the smartphones are Blade VEC 4G, Blade L2 and KIS 3. These devices will be available for sale beginning August 23.

Blade VEC 4G
The phone comes with 4G LTE support, 5-inch IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 1,280 pixels by 720 pixels. In addition, ZTE Blade Vec 4G packs a 2,300 mAh battery. The phone’s body is 142.3 mm high, 70.4 mm wide, and has a thickness of 7.8 mm. It weighs 131 grams.
Among other specs, the phone houses a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 MSM8926 processor, 1MP front camera, and an 8MP rear camera. Blade Vec 4G also features 16GB of internal storage and will retail for SG$299 (US$239).
The Blade L2 features a 5-inch display, 1.2GHz quad-core MediaTek processor and 1GB RAM. It has been priced slightly higher at S$169 (US$135). It comes equipped with a 5-megapixel camera that has a panorama functionality, 3D animation using pictures, smile-shot and face detection for selfies.
The KIS 3 is an entry-level smartphone and will retail for only S$99 (US$79). It comes with a 4-inch 800x480p screen and is powered by a 1.2GHz Qualcomm quad-core processor. It also packs 512MB RAM and 2-megapixel rear camera.
