Xiaomi stops Mi 3 sales in India

August 27th, 2014

Xiaomi Mi 3Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone maker, has decided to pull out its Mi 3 smartphone from the Indian market. The company has sold 95,000 units of phone till date in the country and all these smartphones were sold via online retailer Flipkart.

The question which comes to mind at this occasion is why so early. Only one answer seems logical at this point and that is to focus on the launch of Redmi 1S smartphone in the country and divert the Mi 3 inventory to Indonesia, where the company is entering next.  It is possible that the pull-out is temporary and the company might bring the smartphone back after a few weeks but nothing is confirmed at this point.

The Xiaomi Redmi 1S goes on sale on September 2 in India. The registrations for the smartphone have already started on Flipkart. Xiaomi is following the same weekly sale strategy for Redmi 1s and it will retail for INR 5,999.

Just to update you, Redmi 1S runs on Android 4.3-based MIUI v5 and is powered by 1.6GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor.
